Take the T to See the Tall Ships!

Boston will be welcoming a fleet of up to 40 international Tall Ships as a part of the Rendez-Vous Tall Ships Regatta from June 17th-22nd for Sail Boston. Events throughout the course of the week will include a Grand Parade of Sail, festival, parade, and public boarding of ships. All are free and open to the public. The MBTA is providing extra service, shuttles to the best viewing areas, and special unlimited passes to get you around. 


Getting Around

An express shuttle between the Sullivan Square Orange Line station and Charlestown Navy Yard will run through Wednesday June 21st to provide quick access to docked ships. A $5.00 shuttle pass is required to board shuttles, except for special eligibility customers

The shuttle will operate on the following schedule:

Monday, June 19th-Wednesday, June 21st: Service running approximately every 5 minutes from 10:00A - 10:00P or until the end of the event.

Sail Boston Transportation Passes

Traveling with the MBTA will be one of the easiest ways to get around the city during Sail Boston. Throughout the week there will be road closures, limited parking, and restricted areas. MBTA express shuttles will run on June 17th-21st from Sullivan Square station to Charlestown Navy Yard, with additional shuttles on June 17th from JFK/UMass station to Castle Island.

Experience Sail Boston and travel around the city hassle-free by purchasing special Sail Boston MBTA passes. All passes include travel on all MBTA shuttles and will be printed on a plastic card with a commemorative Sail Boston graphic. Limited quantities are available.  Children 11 years old and under ride free when accompanied by a paying adult, with a limit of two children for each adult.

MBTA Sail Boston Passes are not valid for use on the Sail Boston Express or Sail Boston Circulator shuttles operated by Yankee Express. 

 

Passes

The final day to purchase passes online was Tuesday, June 6th.

Day Sailor, Commuter Rail Plus Day Sailor, and Commodore passes can be purchased at ticket offices located at South Station, Back Bay, and North Station from June 5th-21st.

The Shuttles to Ships pass will be available for purchase from June 11th-21st through the MBTA mTicket app, available for download from Google Play and the iTunes App Store

Valid for unlimited travel on the Bus and Subway for one 24-hour period during the Sail Boston event, and unlimited use on the following MBTA Sail Boston express shuttle buses June 17-21, 2017:

Commodore Pass

$25.00

Valid for unlimited travel on the Bus and Subway for 7 days during the Sail Boston event, and unlimited use on the following MBTA Sail Boston express shuttle buses June 17-21, 2017:

·        JFK/UMass to Castle Island: Runs June 17 only

·        Sullivan to Charlestown Navy Yard: Runs June 17-21

 
 

Special Eligibility Passes

MBTA special eligibility pass holders (Senior CharlieCard, Student CharlieCard, TAP ID, or Youth Pass) can take advantage of MBTA Sail Boston bus shuttles by showing their pass to MBTA officials when boarding.  Learn more about who qualifies for special eligibility passes here

Sail Boston asks that all visitors planning to attend the event refrain from bringing the following items into the event:

  • Coolers on wheels
  • Backpacks
  • Firearms, weapons, sharp objects or fireworks
  • Glass containers
  • Cans
  • Pre-mixed beverages
  • Alcoholic beverages
  • Grills, propane tanks or open flames
  • Pop up tents/canopies
  • Bicycles
  • Wagons or pull carts
  • Pets (except service animals)
  • Drones
