Take the T to See the Tall Ships!
Boston will be welcoming a fleet of up to 40 international Tall Ships as a part of the Rendez-Vous Tall Ships Regatta from June 17th-22nd for Sail Boston.
Events throughout the course of the week will include a Grand Parade of Sail, festival, parade, and public boarding of ships. All are free and open to the public. To learn more, view the schedule of events.
Sail Boston Transportation Passes
Traveling with the MBTA will be one of the easiest ways to get around the city during Sail Boston. Throughout the week there will be road closures, limited parking, and restricted areas. MBTA express shuttles will run on June 17th-21st from Sullivan Square station to Charlestown Navy Yard, with additional shuttles on June 17th from JFK/UMass station to Castle Island.
Experience Sail Boston and travel around the city hassle-free by purchasing special Sail Boston MBTA passes. All passes include travel on all MBTA shuttles and will be printed on a plastic card with a commemorative Sail Boston graphic. Limited quantities are available. Children 11 years old and under ride free when accompanied by a paying adult, with a limit of two children for each adult.
MBTA Sail Boston Passes are not valid for use on the Sail Boston Express or Sail Boston Circulator shuttles operated by Yankee Express.
Skip the line for passes and purchase them online in advance. The final day to purchases passes online is June 1st. Passes include free shipping and will be delivered no later than June 10th.

Other Ways to Buy a Pass
All passes can be purchased at ticket offices located at South Station, Back Bay, and North Station from June 5th-21st. The Shuttles to Ships, Day Sailor Pass, and Commodore Pass will also be sold during the event at major Subway stations.
Those who qualify for reduced fares and already hold a Senior CharlieCard, Student CharlieCard, TAP ID, or Youth Pass can use these as a form of payment on the MBTA Sail Boston shuttles. Learn more about who qualifies for reduced fares and how to get a reduced fare pass here.
The MBTA serves all the best viewing locations for the Grand Parade of Sail, and will be running special express shuttle to Castle Island and the Charlestown Navy Yard, as well as rush hour service all day on our subway lines. MBTA express shuttles will run on June 17th-21st from Sullivan Square station to Charlestown Navy Yard, with additional shuttles on June 17th from JFK/UMass station to Castle Island. Take the Subway to any of the stations below for quick and easy access to the Grand Parade of Sail viewing areas:
- Aquarium (Blue Line)
- State Street (Blue Line and Orange Line)
- Haymarket (Green Line and Orange Line)
- North Station (Orange Line, Green Line, and select Commuter Rail lines)
- Maverick (Blue Line)
- JFK/Umass (Red Line) for the MBTA shuttle to Castle Island
- Sullivan Square (Orange Line) for the MBTA shuttle to Charlestown Navy Yard
Note: There will be no ferry service on Saturday, June 17th due to the harbor being closed.
Extra Commuter Rail Service
June 17th - June 18th: The following Commuter Rail lines will be running additional trains during the morning and evening hours:
- Fitchburg Line*
- Framingham/Worcester Line*
- Franklin Line
- Haverhill Line*
- Lowell Line
- Middleborough/Lakeville Line*
- Newburyport/Rockport Line
- Providence/Stoughton Line
*Additional service on these trains will only be available on Saturday, June 17th.
Sail Boston asks that all visitors planning to attend the event refrain from bringing the following items into the event:
- Coolers on wheels
- Firearms, weapons, sharp objects or fireworks
- Glass containers
- Pre-mixed beverages
- Alcoholic beverages
- Grills, propane tanks or open flames
- Pop up tents/canopies
- Wagons or pull carts
- Pets (except service animals)
